Lagos Marvel Lions Club, under the charter leadership of Lion Adekemi Badmos PMJF NLCF, recently marked a milestone in community healthcare with the completion and commissioning of the O and G Wellness Center at the General Hospital in Gbagada, Lagos on 16th of March, 2024. This initiative underscores the club’s dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and improving the well-being of Lagos state.

Lion Adekemi Badmos PMJF NLCF, a passionate advocate for community health, spearheaded the initiative. Recognizing the critical need for enhanced obstetric and gynecological services, she envisioned a wellness center that would offer comprehensive healthcare for women. Her leadership galvanized the Lagos Marvel Lions Club to take on this ambitious project, focusing on providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to support safer pregnancies, childbirth, and overall reproductive health.

The planning phase involved extensive collaboration between Lagos Marvel Lions club, healthcare professionals, and Professional Engineers. They assessed the needs of the General hospital, Gbagada and designed a facility equipped to handle a wide range of O and G services, including prenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, and gynecological treatments. The facility was built to modern standards, featuring:

– Consultation Rooms:

– Private spaces for patient consultations and examinations.

– Diagnostic Services and other diagnostic procedures.

– Counseling and educational room dedicated to educating women about reproductive health, family planning, and prenatal/postnatal care.

The O and G Wellness Center was officially commissioned 16th of March, 2024 in a grand ceremony attended by members of the District Governor 404B2 Nigeria, Past District Governors, Lion leaders from different Lions Clubs in Nigeria, General hospital management staff, Baale of Oworonshoki, community members and Lagos Marvel Lions club Members. The event highlighted the successful culmination of collective efforts led by Lion Adekemi Badmos PMJF NLCF Charter President Lagos Marvel lions club

Since its opening, the center has made a profound impact on the community. Women now have access to comprehensive, high-quality O and G services within Lagos state. This has not only improved health outcomes for mothers and children but also raised awareness about reproductive health issues.

The establishment of the O and G Wellness Center at the General Hospital Gbagada is a testament to the power of leadership, community service, and collaboration. It stands as a beacon of hope and a vital resource for women’s healthcare in Lagos, ensuring a healthier future for generations to come.

The Charter President Lion Adekemi Badmos PMJF NLCF reiterated that the club’s mission with the O and G Wellness Center is to provide not just medical care, but also education and support, empowering women to take charge of their health. The CMD of General Hopsital, Gbagada appreciated the Lions and stated that the O and G Wellness Center has greatly enhanced the hospital’s ability to serve the community, providing specialized care that was previously out of reach for many.

In addition to this edifice the club on 19th April donated a slit lamp to General hospital Gbagada, in line with the VISION CAUSE of lions clubs. The Slit Lamp will be used to diagnose and treat various eye problems, providing a valuable resource for the hospital and the community. The donation was presented by District Governor, Lion Prof. Emmanuel Dayo Fagbohun PMJF, NLCF, and was warmly received by the hospital management.
