On the 23rd May the 203-2024 District Governor Lion (Prof )Emmanuel Fagbohun commissioned Ikeja Viva L’Amour legacy project Chaired by their president Lion Chief Mrs Ngozi Nkoloenyi.. The project which took place at Ojodu government Primary Health center saw the actualization of projects relating to three focus areas of the Lions Club.
The primary health center was in a very bad state when the club approached them to in a bid to supply medical equipments for the maternity department. The club observed keeping of equipments and health care services cannot be done in a dilapidated facility that desperately needed a total face lift. The fence was falling that the Chief Medical officer confirmed her fears that it could fall on patients. Pregnant women had no seats to seat at the waiting area before their session with the doctors while the canopies in the facility had holes. Furthermore, the toilet tiles were all broken, there was no functional fridge to store drugs and other essential medical apparatus, the inter locking stones were off with algae grown on them, the mattress were old and not appropriate while there was only a drip stand in the health center which was equally old.
Viva L’amour Lions swung into action reconstructing and fortifying the fence with concrete. Flower beds were created in the front of the hospital with royal palm tree and flowery plants planted in front of the hospital to improve aesthetics. The interlocking stones got pressure washed, missing ones replaced and painted to keep the whole compound cleaned. The broken door was replaced with a brand new one and the t hospital got re painted all over. The old toilet tiles were replaced with new tiles. A sign board to indicate their 24 hours services was constructed and erected on their wall and it also indicated the services rendered in the center.
The club then supplied the center with a fridge, microwave, 24 strong blue chairs, 24 bed sheets, 2 mattresses and s brand new canopy. Other medical equipments urgently needed by the center supplied by the club include, 3 drip stands, 2 stethoscopes, binocular microscope, fetal Doppler, double electric suction machine ,Aneroid sphygmomanometer with stethoscopes, digital BP monitor, 8 digital thermometers, gun thermometer, finger pulse oximeter, big scale with height for adults, analogue baby scale, big autoclave machine, oxygen gauge and jaundice Detector .
All the above items were handed over to the Chief Medical Officer, the hospital management and the Local Government Chairman representatives in the company of Lion leaders of District 404B2. Immediate Past District Governor Lion Prof Emmanuel Fagbohun who was the DG when the project was commissioned unveiled the project. Notable Lions present at the event include PDG Ademola Adesoye, over 20 members of Ikeja Viva L’Amour present and district officers.
