The Lagos Apex Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria, under the leadership of Lion Shakira Modupe Salaudeen, on Tuesday May 28, 2024 donated a refurbished library to Orishigun Nursery and Primary School, Ketu, Lagos. Donating the library as part of the club’s legacy projects in the school, Lion Salaudeen stated that the modern library would be beneficial to the pupils and makes them study and prepare better for their examinations.

Lion Salaudeen recalled that when she was in elementary school, it was difficult to get a senior student to lend someone a textbook to read, but that with the library, it would be easy for the pupils to get books to read. The Lagos Apex Lions Club President for 2023-2024 service year revealed that the club plans to provide computer systems for the school with the support of future administration of the club and promised that she would work closely with the in-coming leaders to ensure that the project becomes a reality. She appreciated those who stood firmly with her and supported the project.

The legacy project was commissioned by the District Governor of 404B2 Nigeria for 2023-2024 lions service year, Lion Professor Emmanuel Dayo Fagbohun. Lion Fagbohun said during the commissioning that he had gone through the library, saying that it has enough books covering Mathematics, English Education Language, Literature, History, and General Knowledge. The District Governor then told the management of the school to manage the library well, and make the environment conducive for learning. He also urged the students of the school to take advantage of the library to better their lives. He equally charged the in-coming leaders of the club to ensure that more legacy projects are provided for the people, adding that he might not be the DG at that time, but that he would be ready to take part whenever occasion demands.

Responding, the head teacher of the school, Mrs Omolewa Oluomo, thanked the leaders of the club for the gesture. She also appealed that more of the gesture should be provided to the school. A 10-year-old primary 5 pupil of the school, Chidera Eze thanked the leaders of the club on behalf of other pupils.
