In a commendable display of community service, Lagos Marvel Lions Club, District 404 B2, donated a traffic control booth to the Ifako/Gbagada Police Station. This strategic initiative aims to address traffic congestion and enhance the safety and working conditions of the officers tasked with maintaining road order. The Gbagada roundabout, known for its bustling commercial activities, has long been a challenging area for traffic management. Lagos Marvel Lions Club, recognizing the Nigeria Police Force’s tireless efforts in this regard, has stepped in to provide a practical solution. This initiative is a testament to the Club’s respect and appreciation for the Nigeria Police Force’s work.
Divisional Police Officer Sofunmi Owolabi, represented by Divisional Crime Officer Tim Umoh, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Club’s generosity. “This gesture from Lagos Marvel Lions Club has been long expected,” Owolabi remarked. “The traffic booth will add to our capacity, helping our traffic wardens, especially during inclement weather, to perform their duties comfortably and without hindrance.”
Club President Oluwagbemi Salomeh NLCF underscored the initiative’s significance: “We realized that during the rainy season, traffic officials suffer a lot due to the harsh weather conditions, often having to find shelter. Our understanding of their challenges led us to take action. The traffic control booth will provide much-needed protection for the officers, shielding them from the elements and enabling them to focus on their vital responsibilities.”
The project aligns with one of the Lions Club’s global causes, the “Safety” pillar, which aims to create a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable environment. By addressing the challenges traffic officers face, Lagos Marvel Lions Club has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and ensuring the well-being of the Ifako/Gbagada community.
This impactful contribution is a testament to the Club’s unwavering dedication to serving the community and making a tangible difference in the lives of the people they serve. It reflects the Club’s belief in the power of community service and the importance of collective action in creating positive change.
