World Sight Day is celebrated to raise awareness about eye health and the importance of preventing blindness and vision impairment. It’s a great time to reflect on how precious our vision is and how we can take care of it.

The theme for World Sight Day 2024 is “Children, Love Your Eyes,” focusing on child eye health. This campaign aims to highlight the importance of early detection and treatment of vision problems in children, emphasizing how uncorrected vision issues can significantly impact their education and quality of life. The global initiative encourages parents, caregivers, and schools to take proactive steps, such as pledging regular eye exams for children, to ensure good eye health.
Lions Clubs of District 404B2, in collaboration with Nigerian Optometric Association, had a journey for sight campaign to celebrate the 2024 World Sight Day. The event started with an awareness trek and eye screening for indigent children in five primary schools in Orile Agege who experienced a touch of the core value of the Lions club, which is selfless service. It is worthy to note that free eye glasses were distributed after the exercise.
