The District led by our amiable District Governor in celebration of the World Aids Day donated drugs and food items to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital in Osogbo recently.
The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital Dr. Babatunde Adeola Afolabi eulogized Lions Club International for bringing succor and empowerment to the indigent people in the society. Dr. Afolabi gave the accolades while playing host to the members of the Lions Club in his office.
The Chief Medical Director said the club’s commitment to helping others is highly commendable and inspiring, recalling the support that the Club has rendered to the hospital in the past and his administration is delighted to continue with the collaboration. Speaking further, Dr. Afolabi said he recognized the importance of community service and the impacts it has on the lives of individuals, which aligns with the hospital’s mission to provide quality healthcare services.
The DG, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo PMJF NLCF said the visit to the hospital is part of the activities to mark this year’s World AIDS Day. He also seized the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Afolabi on his appointment as Chief Medical Director of the hospital. Lion Senbanjo who made it known that the club was established in 1917 highlighted the key areas of focus of the club which includes: youth empowerment, and giving care in -Vision, Diabetes, pediatric Cancer, hunger relief, humanitarian efforts and disaster relief.
In his own remarks, Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere, Second Vice District Governor reassured the CMD that the club will complete the Cancer Center project it started in the hospital. The Chief Medical Director and some members of the Management team of the hospital were later inducted and decorated as members of Osun New Era Lions Club.
