Mission 1.5 is the drive to reach 1.5 million members worldwide n July 1, 2027, so we can better meet the growing needs of our communities and serve more people than ever before. Global change comes from local efforts. When we invite new members to our clubs and build new vibrant clubs, it does more than make our communities stronger. It makes the world a kinder, healthier and better place to live.
MISSION 1.5 is a dedicated effort that is membership focused. Lions International have committed the next four years to reaching this historic Lions Clubs membership goal. Every Lion has an important part to play. Together, we can grow Lions Clubs to extraordinary new heights, serving an untold number of people in need. Our Global Membership Approach is designed to revitalize existing clubs, charter new ones and inspire all Lions through fellowship and exciting service.
Mission 1.5 which launched on July 11, 2023 at the international convention in Boston, Massachusetts and will continue through June 30, 2027 has several objectives which includes; all Constitutional areas achieving positive net growth on July 1, 2027, all districts must add new clubs, all clubs induct new members during MISSION 1.5, and districts are encouraged to incorporate strategies to attract a more diverse membership, including women and young Lions.
The benefits of Mission 1.5 are numerous and includes; increased capacity to serve, greater diversity and inclusion, increased advocacy for change, locally and globally and increased member benefits. Lions do more than serve together — we grow together. So club growth, on every level, all around the world, benefits us all. The personal connections we make with fellow Lions open doors to new opportunities and endless possibilities for personal and professional growth as we learn from one another, always striving to be better leaders, better people, better Lions. Growing our membership through Mission 1.5 will make us stronger at every level of Lions. With more members, our association, districts and clubs will have more resources to fulfill our MISSION of service, at home and around the world.
Every Lion can be a part of this mission by inviting new members. Help grow your own club by bringing in new members. Fresh perspectives and a diverse membership foster camaraderie and help ensure the future success of our Lions Clubs. Chartering and starting a new club by forming and applying for its charter is another way to be a part of the mission. Expanding our reach with new charters creates opportunities to welcome new members, which creates new opportunities for service.
We must all share the mission by getting Lions everywhere excited about our drive to achieve 1.5 million members worldwide. Spread the word about our mission, so we can continue to grow our membership, increasing our impact locally and globally. Every Lion can affect positive change through MISSION 1.5 and every Lion will have the opportunity to earn exclusive patches and pins, plaques and presidential medals as we march toward our goal of 1.5 million members worldwide.
