MULTIPLE DISTRICT COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON; MD 404 NIGERIA 2024/2025 LIONS YEAR

Lion Ano Anyanwu hails from Mbaise, Imo State. He went to Primary and Secondary Schools in Mbaise

He is a 1984 graduate of Statistics of University of Nigeria, Nsukka UNN and he did National Service in Bauchi State 1984/1985.

He has worked at

  • Deloitte Adetona, Isichei and Co, Chartered Accountants 1985 to 1989
  • Ecobank Nigeria Plc 1989 to 1993
  • Citizens International Bank Plc 1993 t0 2005
  • Spring Bank Plc 2006 to 2009
  • Mainstreet Bank Limited in 2011 to 2014

He served as Executive Director in Spring Bank Plc and later served as the Executive Director, Operations and Information Technology in Mainstreet Bank Limited from where he retired in December 2014.

Lion Ano has also held board appointments and directorships in other companies, including Mainstreet Micro Finance Bank Limited, Mainstreet Trustees Limited, Unified Payments Limited, Novel Micro Finance Bank Limited, SAHCO Plc, CALM IT Ltd, and Hope PSB Limited.

He has attended several Professional Training Programmes locally and Overseas in such diverse areas as: Anti-Money Laundering, Board Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Corporate Leadership, Corporate Transformation, Executive Team Leadership, High Impact Leadership, Negotiation, Personal Leadership, Selling Skills and Strategy.

He was a 1993 participant at the Best and Brightest African Bankers Programme in New York, USA, and a member of the Lagos Business School Advanced Management Programme 19 (AMP19) of 2006 as well as the General Management Leadership Programme of Columbia Business School, New York 2014 and holds the Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia Business School.

Lion Ano loves to engage in charitable and community development activities. He built a block of classrooms for a Primary School, grassed the football fields of two primary schools and is the sponsor of the Ochiagha Unity Cup Football Tournament, all in his home town Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State. He is also the Initiator of the “Rescue Basic Education Project” in his home town.

Lion Ano is an Accomplished Administrator, Banker and Chartered Accountant, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB).

He holds the Traditional Titles of ONAKA NGURU UBOMA AHIA ISE and NZE OMABINAOJI

 

Service in Lionism

Lion Ano Anyanwu is a member of Yaba Lions Club which he joined in the 1994/1995 Lions Service Year at the invitation of the Late Lion Tony Awa. He has served as Assistant Secretary 1994/95, Secretary 1996/97, President 2011/2012, and Membership Director and Board Member of his Club.

He has served Lions District 404 A1 as Zone Chairperson, in 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 Lions years and Chairperson International Relations Committee in 2014/2015 Lions Year. He served as 2nd Vice District Governor as well as the Environment Service Chairperson in 2020/2021 and 1st Vice District Governor in the 2021/2022 Lions Service Year before he was elected District Governor in May 2022 and served as Governor in the 2022/2023 Lions Year.

He has also served as Multiple District Chairperson Youth Activities 2020/2021, Multiple District Council Treasurer 2021/2022 for MD 404 Nigeria.

He was the Chairperson of the Steering Committee of District 404A3 in the 2023/2024. He was unanimously elected the Multiple District Chairperson for MD404 for the 2024/2025 Lions at the MD Convention held at Ibadan in May 2024.

Lion Ano has attended several Local and International Conventions and several Lions Training Programmes including RLLI, ALLI and FDI.

He is a two-diamond Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF) of the Lions Clubs International Foundation and a fellow of the Nigerian Lions Charity Foundation (NLCF).

He is happily married to Mrs. Caroline Anyanwu and they are blessed with children.
