Ikeja Metro Lions Club has donated an Information Technology (ICT) Centre to Omole Junior High School, Lagos, in the bid to improve learning at the school. Speaking at the commissioning of the center, the president of Ikeja Metro Lions Club for 2023-2024 Lions Service Year, Lion Ahmed Adepoju Olusi, said that Information Technology is critical to the development and growth of any economy and stressed the need to provide opportunities for the students to acquire ICT skills. Lion Olusi stated that the club conducted a needs assessment on the school and decided to donate an ICT to the students.

The items donated to the school included desk computers, projectors and others. .Acquiring ICT skills is very important for any student to do well in any subject. Indeed, many of the examinations that the students write are ICT-based and if the students do not have the skills, how can they pass?  We donated the ICT Centre in order to help them acquire computer skills and pass their examinations. We need to teach them computer skills at an early age so that they will grow with it,” Lion Olusi reiterated.

Commissioning the ICT Centre, the District Governor for 2023-2024 Lions Service Year, Lion (Professor) Dayo Fagbohun, charged the students to take their studies seriously and work hard in order to pass their examinations and achieve success in life. He also charged the school authorities and the students to make sure that center was properly taken care of.

The management, staff and students of the school promised to put the center to judicious use and thanked the Lions club for their kind gesture.
