Revd. Sunday Adediwura Adeoye, the Pastor in charge of Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo admonished Lion members of Osun Axis during the Dedication Service held on Sunday, 7th July, 2024 to commemorate the beginning of 2024/2025 Lion Service Year (LSY).  He applauded members for their sense of service and also enjoined members to adhere strictly to the goals and objectives of Lions Club International so as to continue to improve the living standard of the less privileged and vulnerable people in the society.

It was reiterated without mincing words by Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere MJF, NLCF, the 2nd Vice District Governor, District 404B2 Nig. that Lions Club International is not a cult as earlier mentioned by Leo-Lion Ayo Fajoye, the District’s Protocol Officer, Osun Axis. He stated that Lion Clubs renders humanitarian services and that the membership is opened to all people with hearts of service regardless of their religion, gender and vocation. He therefore encouraged the congregation to join any of the 12 Lion Clubs in Osun in order to collectively impact on society at large. He cited completed projects and ongoing ones in Osun such as LCIF Eye screening center at the State Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, the Diabetes Screening and Treatment Centre, Ede and others as a testament to the Clubs’ developmental strides in the State.
The Pastor of the church prayed for the leadership of District 404B2, Nigeria and other Club members as well as their families to continue flourishing in their undertakings and endeavours in the new LSY and beyond so that they could continue helping the Needy. The service was attended by the 2VDG of District 404B2, eminent Lion Leaders, Region & Zone Chairpersons, Presidents of various Clubs, and esteemed members from all the Clubs and the Leos from Osun Axis.
While appreciating members for their doggedness in the service to humanity, the 2VDG, admonished members to double their efforts in making the 2024/2025 LSY a success by contributing their quotas positively in all activities in this LSY.  Similarly, Lions in the Ilorin Axis also held a thanksgiving service just like their counterparts in the district to celebrate God’s goodness and to commit the service year into his good hands for guidance and protection.
It is worthy to note that on the 5th of July, Lions of Region 8 and Region had gathered at the Islahudeen Central Mosque, Alekuwodo Osogbo led by Lion Solabomi Akinsola NLCF Region 8 Chairperson and Lion Dr Ayoola Aransi NLCF Region 9 chairperson , to dedicate the Lions year to the guidance and protection of Almighty Allah. Lions in Osun State continually reaffirm their commitment to “Serving first” and creating a lasting impact in our community
